Description of project and services rendered
The objective of this consultancy is principally to impart practical
skills and knowledge to local staff on how to solicit and pursue a
consultancy and/or research assignment. It is also intended to make use
of this avenue to generate income from research and consultancy
projects undertaken by IFM. A certain identifiable group of members of
local staff to be able to undertake research and consultancy skills on
their own. It is expected that the consultant shall use most of the
time to lead the local staff on hands on training. Generally the
consultant is to take practical situations and lead the local staff on
how to prepare project proposals, solicit assignments, conduct
researches and consultancies, write research findings and advise
participants on how to use the findings, including how best a client
may enjoy benefits of a research/consultancy project. The whole
assignment shall be results oriented with several practical cases as
may be agreed with client. In particular:
Advise on better:
- Organization set up for consultancy works/activities and how to
motivate consultants;
- How to market and win a consultancy;
- To impart to local staff skill and knowledge on market research
and creation of links;
- To undertake team building for consultancy assignments and
initiatives;
- To impart skills on how to prepare Technical and Financial
proposals;
- To provide research and consultancy skills in banking, financial
management, insurance
taxation, accounting, social security administration and information
technology;
- To provide skills in advisory services in (5) above;
- To provide skills on reporting and consultancy report writing;
- To provide awareness on the best practices/benchmarks in
consulting tasks, including
standard setting and quality assurances;
- How to draw a consultancy agreement;
- To undertake a common workshop with all (course) participants two
weeks before the end
of the assignment with a view of assessing extent of knowledge
transferred to the local staff;
- The course findings are to be summarized in a final report to the
client and theýInter-
Institutional Steering Committee incorporating participants' position
on the knowledge
so acquired.
